Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC)
What is MDAC?
The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) is an online pre-arrival registration of your traveler and trip details. You complete it before you arrive in Malaysia instead of relying on paperwork at the border.
Who generally needs MDAC?
Foreign visitors travelling to Malaysia generally need to complete MDAC before arriving, unless they fall within an official exempt category.
Who is exempt from MDAC?
The exempt groups are: citizens of Singapore; diplomatic and official passport holders; Malaysia Permanent Residents and long-term pass holders; General Certificate of Identity (GCI) Brunei Darussalam holders; Brunei-Malaysia Frequent Traveller Facility holders; Thailand Border Pass holders; and Indonesia Cross-Border Travel Document (PLB) holders.
Is MDAC the same as a visa?
No. MDAC is not a visa and does not replace any visa requirement. Whether you need a visa depends on your passport and the purpose of your trip, and being able to travel without a visa does not automatically make you exempt from MDAC.
When should I complete MDAC?
The traveler's trip must be within 3 days, including the date of submission. MDAC is meant to be completed in the days just before you travel.
What information do I need?
MDAC asks for four kinds of information: personal and passport details, contact details, travel details and accommodation details. Have your passport and travel bookings beside you when you fill in the form.
Do I need to upload documents?
No. The form asks you to enter information. It does not ask you to upload documents.
Can several travelers be entered through this website?
Our application flow allows multiple travelers to be added in one submission. Each traveler's own details are entered.
